The “Reflect Together” Day Retreat will feature keynote and talks from Director of Integrity Coaching, Viv Grant and Author and Change Maker, Mac Macartney.
Talk Overview – A Horizon Beckoning
Speaker: Mac Macartney
As much as we try, we can only peer a very short distance into the future, and even then sudden unforeseen events can crack open what we imagined to be immutable.
The Covid-19 pandemic has shaken the world. The latest IPCC report gives no room for prevarication. Dictators seize their chance, people die, and economies are thrown into disarray. The very ground we stand on is fissured and moving, yet profound disruption to the status quo inevitably offers the opportunity to see and act anew.
Now is the time to pause, take breath, and see what was always available and yet so rarely appreciated. These deeply troubled times could birth an entirely new definition and practice of how we live, work, and find meaning in the 21st Century.
What are humans if bereft of humanity? How might leaders be if guided by the determination to serve and contribute? How might we act differently if, beyond doubt, we knew that our work was truly contributing to the sum of human happiness? What could ensue if, like the lion in The Wizard of Oz, we found our courage?
This talk, invites a radical re-imagining of the story that has brought us thus far. It is a horizon beckoning.
Talk Overview – Looking Backward, Living Forward
Speaker: Viv Grant
Viv will set the scene for the day, inviting attendees to let go of the busyness of school life and together create a space where every individual can be seen, heard and listened to.
In setting the scene for the day, Viv will encourage school leaders to put to one side the weighty responsibilities of the role and to create an internal space that will allow for:
– Increased understanding of lessons to be gleaned from individual life stories and experiences over the past few years
– A deepening self-awareness and understanding of each person’s own individual journey
– A greater appreciation of the purpose of reflection as a tool for developing wisdom and insight
What will the Retreat Offer?
The day will aim to provide a space and opportunity for…
Where leaders can be themselves and probe for meaning and purpose amidst the daily challenges of school leadership
Where leaders can deepen their knowledge and gain a better understanding of how to use their own unique set of skills and traits to create compelling visions of success for themselves and others
Where leaders can find solutions, practical ideas and suggestions for taking themselves and their schools forward in the coming year
Where leaders can share, laugh and have time to talk with others about how to achieve the very best for themselves and those they lead and manage
