Taking the first steps into Headship can be both exciting and daunting.

There are new school environments to get used to, new relationships to build, and new structures and systems to develop, all of which require enormous investments of time and energy.

The global challenges of the last few years have shown that for those new to school leadership, something beyond standardised leadership and management textbooks and courses is required to help individuals successfully navigate the current changed educational landscape.

It is our belief that if new Heads are to survive and thrive in this new context, then personalised support can be an essential tool for helping them to both shape and make the role their own.

That’s why we have developed an Early Headship Programme for aspiring Heads and those in the early stages of their Headship.

Consisting of expert 1:1 coaching and leadership development sessions, the programme has been designed to help school leaders navigate their first few years of Headship.

Above all, the programme is designed to help leaders build their resilience, strengthen their purpose and adopt a generative outlook for their role, their schools and the communities they serve.

Who is this offer for?

This year long development programme is for Heads and College leaders in the early stages of their careers. It is particularly for those individuals looking to:

– Understand how to cope with the emotional and psychological changes that accompany movement into senior leadership

– Feel less weighed down by the challenges of the role and stay connected to their sense of vocation, passion and purpose

– Address heightened levels of stress and put in place strategies for overcoming them

– Strengthen personal and professional relationships and have a greater sense of work/life harmony

Individuals who attend this programme will benefit from…

– An increased ability to respond with deeper levels of self-awareness and understanding to the challenges posed by the pandemic and the wider challenges of the role
